Wade Miley, Nick Franklin plac Kevin Pillar Blue Jays Jersey ed on DL

MILWAUKEE — Brewers left-hander Wade Miley and infielder Nick Franklin landed on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday as each player awaited results of MRI scans.

Miley said after a 6-2 loss to the Indians that he expects to miss 4-6 weeks with a strained right oblique after recording only one out in his Brewers home debut Tuesday. Franklin, just called up earlier in the day, strained his right quad later in the game. The Brewers activated closer Corey Knebel from the DL and called up infielder Tyler Saladino from Triple-A Colorado Springs to fill those roster spots.

Miley figures to miss “a good amount of time,” manager Craig Counsell said, a bitter pill considering Miley was hurt in his second Major League start off a stint on the DL for a groin injury. He felt discomfort on his 18th pitch, then misfired with a cutter to Michael Brantley on pitch No. 19 and had to leave the game.

“Just another obstacle,” Miley said. “It’s just sore. It’s not excruciating pain. I just feel like I got hit by a truck, I guess. … We’ll see. I’ve never dealt with anything like this before. Like the groin, new waters.”

In his Brewers debut last week in Cincinnati, Miley threw six innings of one-run ball and registered a win.

As of Wednesday morning, Counsell was not prepared to name Miley’s replacement in the rotation, in part because the decision depended on another injured starter. Zach Davies, who is on the DL with right rotator cuff irritation but expected to miss only one turn, threw a bullpen session Wednesday at Miller Park. If that was deemed to have went well, he said he expects to start Friday night against the Rockies.

Miley’s spot comes up again Sunday in Denver. Brent Suter is the internal candidate for that start, but the Brewers also could dip down to Triple-A Colorado Springs for a pitcher. Brandon Woodruff and top prospects Corbin Burnes and Freddy Peralta are among the options.

Franklin, promoted from Double-A Biloxi on Tuesday, pulled up in the fourth inning after reaching first base on a fielder’s choice. He walked off with a member of the Brewers’ athletic training staff and was replaced by Jonathan Villar.

Saladino up
It was a race to Milwaukee on Wednesday for Saladino, who homered for Triple-A Colorado Springs in Tuesday’s win at Nashville. A right-handed hitter and thrower who played parts of four seasons in the Majors with the White Sox before the Brewers claimed him off waivers last month, Saladino has a .610 OPS in 863 big league plate appearances but is extremely versatile defensively.

Saladino’s best path to playing time with the Brewers looks to be as a backup to shortstop Orlando Arcia.

“His name had kind of circled around upstairs and a little bit of time, and we were  Women’s Toronto Blue Jays Kevin Pillar Majestic Scarlet Fashion Kevin Pillar Jersey Canada Day Red Flex Base Authentic Jersey finally able to acquire him,” Counsell said. “He has a very good defensive reputation.”

Honorary Bat Girl
Nichole Kutmas, a middle school teacher from New Berlin, Wis., is the Brewers’ Honorary Bat Girl as part of Major League Baseball’s annual “Going To Bat Against Breast Cancer” initiative this Mother’s Day. She was nominated by ABCD: After Breast Cancer Diagnosis, an organization founded and grounded in Milwaukee that creates connections between breast cancer survivors and patients, families and friends who need support.

A mother of three, Kutmas was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer in 2013. As one of ABCD’s professionally t Kevin Pillar Jersey Cheap rained volunteer mentors, she says she wi Kevin Pillar Canada Day Jersey llingly shares her story with others because, “I want people to know that cancer cannot cripple love, it cannot shatter hope, it cannot conquer the spirit. In fact, if there is a reason that I was diagnosed, it must be this: so I could help others who are going through the same thing.”

Since the Brewers are on the road for Mother’s Day on Sunday, they will honor Kutmas at a home game later this season.

Here’s MLB Pipeline’s roundup of the top prospect performances in the Minor Leagues on Wednesday.

A trio of the White Sox top prospects led Double-A Birmingham to its third straight win as the Barons cruised past Pensacola, 16-3, on Wednesday.

:: Complete prospect coverage ::

Eloy Jimenez, Chicago’s No. 1 prospect (No. 4 in MLB) continued his torrid offensive stretch as he extended his hitting streak to 13 games with his ninth straight multihit effort and Seby Zavala (No. 21) went deep for the third time in as many games. On the mound, Jordan Stephens (White Sox No. 20) put together a scoreless outing for the third time in his past four starts.

Jimenez, who finished 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs, has been red-hot lately and is slashing .346/.375/.704 through 20 games. Meanwhile, Stephens has been stringing together some quality starts of his own. The right-hander, who struck out eight and yielded two hits over six scoreless innings, has a 2.95 ERA through seven starts and has struck out seven or more in five of those starts.

Jimenez doubles twice

Zavala, who finished 2-for-6, hit his ninth homer of the season and appears to be heating up offensively as he’s 5-for-14 over the past three games, after going 1-for-16 in the four games prior.

Other top prospect performances from Wednesday’s action:

• No. 18 overall prospect Alex Reyes (Cardinals’ No. 1) threw 43 of his 67 pitches for strikes, including two that registered 99 mph, in a strong start for Class A Advanced Palm Beach. Reyes, who was making his first start since 2016 after missing all of last season recovering from Tommy John surgery, Kevin Pillar Jersey For Sale walked one, struck out six and yielded four hits over 3 1/3 scoreless frames.

• No. 35 overall prospect Jack Flaherty (Cardinals’ No. 2) was lights-out for Triple-A Memphis in a win over Oklahoma City. Flaherty, who was stuck with his first loss of the year in his last outing, threw 77 of his 113 pitches for strikes as he racked up a career-high 13 strikeouts. The right-hander threw 6 2/3 innings and gave up two runs on six hits.

• No. 48 overall prospect Adrian Morejon (Padres’ No. 6) bounced back from a rough outing in a big way with Class A Advanced Lake Elsinore. The lefty set a career-high with seven innings and a season-high with seven strikeouts in the outing. Morejon walked one, gave up three hits and didn’t allow a run.

• No. 53 overall prospect Matt Manning (Tigers’ No. 2) bounced back from his worst start of the season (five earned runs in two innings) to twirl a gem for Class A West Michigan. Manning, who threw six scoreless innings, gave up four hits and struck out eight.

Manning’s eighth strikeout

• No. 79 overall prospect Nick Gordon (Twins’ No. 4) hit his third homer of the season — and his first since April 18 — in Double-A Chattanooga’s win over Jackson. Gordon, who also doubled twice and finished 3-for-4, is hitting .339 through 31 games in his second go-around with the Lookouts.

• No. 94 overall prospect Blake Rutherford (White Sox No. 7) set a career-high with five RBIs for Class A Advanced Winston-Salem. Rutherford, who finished 2-for-5, had a two-run single in the fifth and then capped his evening with a three-run, go-ahead homer in the 10th.

Astros’ No. 9 prospect J.D. Davis continued his hot streak with a 4-for-5, two-RBI effort for Triple-A Fresno. Not only is Davis in the midst of a 12-game hitting streak, he’s also hitting .450 through 25 games and has multiple hits in nine  Kevin Pillar Jersey of the 12 games during  Youth Toronto Blue Jays Kevin Pillar Majestic Scarlet Fashion Canada Day Red Flex Base Authentic Jersey his streak.

Brewers’ No. 24 prospect Zack Brown picked up his second win as he twirled his best start of the season for Double-A Biloxi. The 23-year-old right-hander, a fifth-round Draft pick in 2016, surrendered just two hits as he worked seven scoreless innings.

Giants’ No. 2 prospect Chris Shaw turned in his second straight two-hit game for Triple-A Sacramento. Shaw, who finished 2-for-4 with a trio of RBIs, is swinging a hot bat lately as he’s 5-for-12 with a homer and six RBIs over his past three games.

Red Sox No. 9 prospect Mike Shawaryn cruised through seven scoreless innings for Double-A Portland. Shawaryn, who set a season-high with eight strikeouts, walked one and gave up three hits over seven scoreless innings

Phillies’ No. 13 prospect Enyel De Los Santos posted his third straight scoreless start (18 2/3 innings) in a win for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The 22-year-old has a 0.84 ERA across six starts, but in a season full of great outings, this may have been his best. De Los Santos fired 72 of his 108 pitches for strikes, struck out six and gave up just one hit in seven innings.

Reds’ No. 4 prospect Tony Santillan lowered his ERA to 1.28 as he twirled a gem for Class A Advanced Daytona. The 21-year-old right-hander only notched a pair of strikeouts, but yielded just four hits across eight scoreless frames. Santillan gave up four runs in his last start, but has surrendered one earned run or fewer in six of his seven outings.

Rockies’ No. 25 prospect Chad Spanberger put together one of the best games of his career for Class A Asheville. Spanberger, who was picked in the sixth round of the 2017 Draft, finished 3-for-4 with six RBIs and two homers. The 22-year-old hit a solo homer in the second and a three-run blast in the seventh.

Royals’ No. 2 prospect Nick Pratto continued his power surge with another homer for Class A Lexington. Pratto, who has gone deep three times in the Kevin Pillar Jersey Cheap past six games, hit an RBI single in the fifth and a three-run homer in the seven on his way to finishing 3-for-4 with a season-high four RBIs.

Yankees’ No. 14 prospect Jonathan Loaisiga continued his strong 2018 campaign with another solid start for Double-A Trenton, giving up one run on five hits over six innings. Loaisiga, who began the year with Class A Advanced Tampa, has allowed two runs or fewer in all six starts across both levels and has an impressive 38-to-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio through 30 innings.

Brewers struggle vs. Carlos Carrasc Kevin Pillar Blue Jays Jersey o in loss

MILWAUKEE — They avoided being shut out for the eighth time this season. If Brewers hitters were seeking positives in their performance against the Indians’ Carlos Carrasco on Wednesday, that was the extent of it.

Carrasco was as dominant as he was efficient in a complete-game five-hitter, logging 14 strikeouts in Cleveland’s 6-2 win over the Brewers at Miller Park. The Brewers settled for a two-game series split with their old American League Central rivals before hitting the road for Colorado, Arizona and Minnesota with a 21-16 record.

The Brewers are two games into a streak of 15 in a row against 2017 postseason teams.

“[Bench coach] Pat Murphy always says there are no Western Illinois on the schedule,” said Brewers manager Craig Counsell, who once played for Murphy at Notre Dame. “I don’t mean to knock Western Illinois, [but] there’s no softballs on a Major League schedule.

“… You take the series as they come, and you move on. The Indians are a really good baseball team, and we faced their two best pitchers and we got a split. The Rockies have been hot, and the Diamondbacks have been one of the better teams in baseball. It’s a challenging road trip for sure.”

A day after the Brewers beat Corey Kluber with a pair of home runs, including pitcher Brent Suter‘s unlikely solo shot off the batter’s eye, Carrasco struck out 10 different batters and had at least one strikeout in each of his first seven innings before retiring the Brewers in order without a whiff during a six-pitch eighth. He singled home a run in the top of the ninth inning, then returned to the mound and completed the game on his 117th pitch.

Video: CLE@MIL: Carrasco goes the distance while fanning 14

Carrasco finished nine of his strikeouts with his nasty slider, including eight swinging strikeouts on that pitch. Four of those came during one particularly dominant stretch in the third and fourth innings, when Carrasco struck out six straight batters.

“For the first three innings, I didn’t find myself,” Carrasco said. “I went back to the dugout and talked to [catcher] Roberto [Perez] and the pitching coach. … When I went out for the fourth, we got everything working.”

The Brewers’ only runs scored on Travis Shaw‘s fielder’s choice groundout in the seventh inning and Jesus Aguilar‘s sacrifice fly in the ninth.

“We were waiting to get to the ‘pen, but he was in total control from the get-go today,” Shaw said.

Milwaukee’s scoring average slipped to 3.68 runs per game, 28th in the Major Leagues and better only than the Marlins among National League clubs.

Brewers starter Junior Guerra set a season high for a Milwaukee pitcher with nine strikeouts, but he was burned by a four-batter sequence in the fourth inning. Jose Ramirez, Michael Brantley, Yonder Alonso and Tyler Naquin Kevin Pillar Canada Day Jersey started the frame with successive hits — three for extra-bases, including Naquin’s three-run home run off a hanging split-fingered fastball for a 4-0 Indians lead.

That flurry represented the only damage against Guerra, who surrendered two other hits plus two walks in five innings en route to losing his third Kevin Pillar Jersey Cheap straight start.

“They got a little rally going, and he hung a split with guys on base,” Counsell said. “He throws that pitch with nobody on base, and maybe that’s a one-run inning and we’re right in the game. Naquin got him with some guys on base. But Junior threw the ball well. It’s one bad pitch that cost him.”

MOMENT TH Kevin Pillar Jersey For Sale AT MATTERED
He’s back: Joe Walsh’s “Rocky Mountain Way” signalled the return to action of All-Star Brewers closer Corey Knebel, who was reinstated from the disabled list Wednesday morning and took the mound for the start of the seventh inning with his team in a 4-0 hole. Francisco Lindor greeted Knebel with a 424-foot home run, but Knebel bounced back to induce three straight groundouts while topping out at 97.3 mph.

Video: Knebel, Counsell discuss closer’s return from injury

“Everything still felt good,” Knebel said. “Lindor is a good hitter, so he’s going to hit those mistakes. If I’m going to give them up, I’d rather it be like that [with the bases empty]. Everything felt good. Hamstring felt good. It was a big plus.”

SOUND SMART
The Brewers have histo Kevin Pillar Jersey ry as a free-swinging, power-hitting team, but Carrasco was only the 19th opponent in 50 seasons of franchise history to strike out at least 14 Brewers batters in a game. The record against Milwaukee is 17 strikeouts, shared by D-backs teammates Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling in 2002.

HE SAID IT
“I’m going to get Western Illinois mail, aren’t I …” — Counsell, expressing instant regret after mentioning the Leathernecks in his postgame press conference.

UP NEXT
The Brewers begin a tough, 10-game road trip to Colorado, Arizona and Minnesota on Thursday in Denver, where Jhoulys Chacin starts against his former tea Women’s Toronto Blue Jays Kevin Pillar Majestic Scarlet Fashion Canada Day Red Flex Base Authentic Jersey m at 7:40 p.m. CT. The Brewers are 6-2 in Chacin’s starts, including four straight wins. Right-hander German Marquez pitches for the Rockies.

Logan, meanwhile, has completed his rehab from a left triceps injury, and he was traveling to Denver, where he will be activated from the DL on Thursday or Friday as the Crew begins a long road trip.

Knebel and Logan will join a Brewers bullpen that has been terrific in their absence, ranking second among Major League relief corps with a 2.56 ERA and fourth with 137 1/3 innings entering Knebel’s return to action Wednesday. He received a rude welcom Kevin Pillar Jersey For Sale e from Indians leadoff man Francisco Lindor, who led off the seventh inning by crushing a Knebel fastball for a 424-foot home run, but Knebel bounced back to retire the next three hitters on groundouts while topping out at 97.3 mph.

Of the Brewers’ relief work in his absence, Knebel said, “That was awesome to see. The bullpen took the bull by the horns and did their job.”

Now Knebel, who logged a 1.78 ERA and 39 saves in a National League-leading 76 appearances last season, gets to do his job for the first time since collapsing on the mound after throwing a pitch against the Cubs on April 5. An MRI scan the next day confirmed a strained left hamstring, and while the diagnosis could have been worse, the Brewers were prepared to be without their most valuable reliever in 2017 until late May or early June.

Video: CHC@MIL: Knebel exits game with apparent leg injury

“This probably exceeded my expectations in terms of how fast he could get back here,” general manager David Stearns said.

Said Knebel: “It feels good on my part, and I know the trainers, they’re excited too. Everything has been progressing well and I feel great, so I’m ready to go.”

The Brewers will ease Knebel back into action, manager Craig Counsell said, with the aim of “getting Corey to the back of the game.”

“We’ll get him there. Not right away,” Counsell said. “I do think it frees Josh [Hader] and the rest of the guys to be utilized in a lot of different ways. … The big thing is we’re not going to get stuck on, ‘This is how it has to be.’ The job is still going to be to continue to get outs. But the way I’m seeing it right now, it will be best if we can get Corey to the back of the game.”

In Knebel’s absence, Counsell employed a true “closer-by-committee” approach, with Hader, Jacob Barnes, Jeremy Jeffress and Matt Albers all logging saves.

Does Knebel expect to reclaim closer  Kevin Pillar Canada Day Jersey duties?

“I don’t care if I do or not,” Knebel said. “Watching what Hader, [Jeffress], Barnes, everybody has been doing, it doesn’t matter where I’m going to be. Kevin Pillar Jersey  We’re all going to do our job. That’s what I like about this club.”

“I feel bad for Mauricio,” Brewers general manager David Stearns said. “He put a lot into this offseason. He put a lot into the first six weeks of this season. He was making some really big strides developmentally. Frankly, [he was] doing a lot of the things we asked him to do.

“He was clearly off to a tremendous start at Colorado Springs both Kevin Pillar Jersey For Sale offensively and defensively. He was really showing us that he could play either position up the middle. He was working himself into being an option here.”

The Brewers’ player development department announced the Dubon news at the same time the Brewers optioned veteran middle infielder Eric Sogard to T Kevin Pillar Jersey riple-A Colorado Springs amidst an 0-for-27 slump. At minimum, Dubon would have been among the players considered for a promotion, especially given the Brewers’ offensive shortcomings at second base and shortstop. Dubon, 23, was slashing .343/.348/.574 at Triple-A Colorado Springs and has an active 23-game hitting streak.

Instead, the Brewers recalled utility man Nick Franklin from Double-A Biloxi. To free a spot on the full 40- Kevin Pillar Canada Day Jersey man roster for Franklin, the Brewers shifted catcher Stephen Vogt to the 60-day disabled list.

Dubon was injured in a rundown during Colorado Springs’ game on Saturday night after extending his hitting streak. Tests on-site indicated a ligament injury, but it wasn’t until Dubon underwent further testing in Milwaukee that the extent of the damage was confirmed.

• Pipeline Q&A: Brewers’ Mauricio Dubon

It could be several weeks, Stearns said, before swelling in Dubon’s knee subsides enough to schedule surgery.

“He’s an upbeat kid,” Stearns said. “He cares about baseball. He’s positive. After this period of disappointment, we know he’s going to get back out there and work as hard as he can through his rehab process. Our aim is to get him ready to go by Spring Training next year.”

“I mean, we were getting close — especially on the pitching front — getting close to healthy,” Brewers manager Craig Counsell said after his team’s 3 Youth Toronto Blue Jays Kevin Pillar Majestic Scarlet Fashion Canada Day Red Flex Base Authentic Jersey -2 win over Cleveland on Tuesday. “And we go down another guy. We’ve got moves to make, obviously, and guys to activate, but we’re trying to get to full strength here.”

Miley, making his second Major League start since returning from a groin injury, appeared uncomfortable during his 19-pitch outing, stepping off the mound to stretch his back at one point while the Indians put a pair of runners on base. With one out, Miley missed the strike zone badly with a Kevin Pillar Jersey Cheap cutter to Michael Brantley and was visibly hurt. He pointed toward his oblique and was removed from the game.

In his Brewers debut last week in Cincinnati, Miley threw six innings of one-run ball and registered a win.

Left-hander Brent Suter took over, pitched through the fifth inning and hit the decisive home run off Indians ace Corey Kluber. Suter has been pitching out of the bullpen since the Brewers promoted Miley to the Majors last week, but he’s one candidate to take Miley’s rotation spot moving forward.

The other candidates are Brandon Woodruff and top prospects Corbin Burnes and Freddy Peralta, both of whom are at Triple-A Colorado Springs.

“We’re five days away from that, so we’ll evaluate that and figure it out,” Counsell said. “I think you guys know the choices. So we’ll look at it and see what is the best way to go. Brent is doing a nice job for us in the bullpen and pitching well. He’s obviously a candidate. And some of the guys in Triple-A as well.”

Franklin, promoted from Double-A Biloxi earlier in the day, pulled up in the fourth inning after reaching first base on a fielder’s choice. He walked off with a member of the Brewers’ athletic training staff and was replaced by Jonathan Villar.

MILWAUKEE — The tears that filled Stephen Vogt‘s eyes Tuesday said more than any of his words. After an examination revealed damage to the capsule, rotator cuff and labrum in his ailing right shoulder, Vogt faces a surgery that would end his season and could end his career.

Vogt won’t make a call on surgery until he gets a second opinion next week.

“There’s a lot of unknowns still. I’m taking a few days, given the information we got [Monday], before we make a final decision,” Vogt said. “It’s hard, because I know that surgery means [I’ll be] out for the year, and I know what that means going forward.

“I’m sad. I worked really hard my whole life and my whole career to help win games, and when you can’t help your teammates win games on the field, it’s really hard. Obviously, there Women’s Toronto Blue Jays Kevin Pillar Majestic Scarlet Fashion Canada Day Red Flex Base Authentic Jersey ‘s big implications here with a second shoulder injury like this that I don’t like to think about, but I am thinking about.

“That being said, I’m healthy in other ways. My family is great and I’m a very blessed man. I focus on those things, and that’s truly wha Kevin Pillar Jersey t keeps me happy.”

Vogt had his first shoulder surgery in 2009 as a Rays farmhand. He went on to Oakland, where he was a two-time American League All-Star before the Brewers claimed him off waivers last June. Vogt provided some left-handed thump, slugging .508 in 129 Brewers plate appearances but threw out only one of 28 base-stealers and made it an offseason mission to strengthen his arm.

Whether that extra work produced the injury is unknown. Vogt went down after only one Spring Training game, slowly built up to a Minor League rehab assignment and was healthy and nearing the end of his tenure at Double-A Biloxi when he re-injured his shoulder on a throw to third base on Saturday night.

“Stephen was a guy coming back who could have provided some of that [left-handed] balance. We miss that part of him,” Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. “He’s also exceptional in the clubhouse. He’s a leader. He just flat out is a leader. He did a tremendous job of that last year, even with a new team. But he’s a leader, and so we’ll miss that, as well.”

Vogt will stay with the Brewers through the start of a road trip later this week in Denver before departing for a second opinion, probably with orthopedist Dr. Neal ElAttrache.

Manny Pina and Jett Bandy will continue to share duties behind the plate. Brewers catchers entered Tuesday 26th of 30 Major League teams with a .257 weighted on-base average.

Kevin Pillar Jersey For Sale Asked whether the team would look outside for help at the position, Brewers general manager David Stearns said, “I don’t think we’ve been shy in saying that’s an area where we need better production offensively. We have two guys here who we believe are capable of providing that production. We’ve seen it in spurts this year, but we haven’t seen it consistently, so it’s something we’re going to continue to discuss and observe.

“I still have confidence in both Manny and Jett that they can get it done. And if we get to the point where we need to consider outside options, we will.”

Sogard out, Franklin in … and then out
The Brewers shifted Vogt to the 60-day disabled list and optioned slumping infielder Eric Sogard to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday to promote Double-A Biloxi utility man Nick Franklin, wh Kevin Pillar Jersey Cheap o started at second base on Tuesday against Indians ace Corey Kluber, only to sustain a strained right quad in the fourth inning. Franklin could be headed for the 10-day disabled list.

Sogard was hitless in his last 27 at-bats and was 6-for-60 this season. He had enough service time to refuse the optional assignment but elected to accept it.

“The goal here is for Eric to get some consistent playing time, for us to get him back to where he was last year,” Stearns said. “He was a significant contributor this team.”

• Arms That Hammer Sweepstakes

In the Brewers’ 3-2 win over Corey Kluber and the Indians on Tuesday at Miller Park, Suter took over in emergency relief for injured starter Wade Miley with one out in the first inning, made a highlight-reel defensive play in the second and crushed his first career home run off the Tribe’s ace in the third, a projected 433-footer, according to Statcast™, off the batter’s eye in center field for what would prove the game’s decisive run.

• Miley (oblique), Franklin exit injured vs. Tribe

“Only baseball,” Suter said, shaking his head.

Travis Shaw also homered off Kluber before Suter, Jeremy Jeffress, Dan Jennings and Josh Hader covered the final 8 2/3 innings for Milwaukee following Miley’s abrupt exit Kevin Pillar Canada Day Jersey  with a right oblique injury. Hader earned his fifth multi-inning save.

Suter, the 28-year-old, soft-tossing Harvard product known as “The Raptor” because of his trademark running style, earned the win with 4 2/3 innings of effective emergency relief. He surrendered two earned runs on five hits with a walk and five strikeouts, hurt only by solo home runs by Jose Ramirez in the third inning and Francisco Lindor in the fifth. Suter got back one of those runs with his first career home run and was mobbed by his teammates in the Brewers’ dugout.

“I see [Kluber] pitch on TV all the time, because he’s kind of must-see TV,” Suter said. “So I went up there, saw the ball up a little bit, kind of put the bat on the ball, and after that, it was just Cloud Nine, like ‘Angels in the  Kevin Pillar Jersey Outfield.’ It was fun. Man, it was a good time.”

Suter’s home run is the fifth-longest home run by a pitcher recorded by Statcast™. It was the first home run for a Milwaukee pitcher since Tyler Cravy connected against the Pirates on Aug. 27, 2016. Like Suter, Cravy was working in relief that day.

The last left-handed-hitting pitcher to homer for the Brewers was CC Sabathia, against the Reds on July 13, 2008. It was Sabathia’s second start for Milwaukee after a trade from Cleveland.

“You just have to tip you Kevin Pillar Jersey For Sale r hat,” said Kluber. “He went out there and got it, put a good swing on it and hit a home run.”

Suter’s contributions were not limited to the batter’s box. In the first inning, he inherited a pair of baserunners from Miley with one out and Cleveland cleanup hitter Michael Brantley in a 1-0 count. Suter escaped without allowing a run to score.

In the second, the Indians again put a pair of runners on base with one out before Suter dove off the mound to catch Kluber’s bunt attempt. From his backside, Suter threw to second base to double up Brandon Guyer and end the threat.

An inning later, Suter did it with the bat.

“It’s sometimes a little awkward-looking and different-looking, as that dive showed you in the [second] inning, but he’s a strong man,” Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. “I don’t think anybody expected [the home run], but he put a good swing on the ball.”

Of Suter’s pitching, Counsell said, “The first inning, he walks into a jam. There’s runners on base, tough hitters, the middle of their lineup, an Youth Toronto Blue Jays Kevin Pillar Majestic Scarlet Fashion Canada Day Red Flex Base Authentic Jersey d he gets out of that inning. He just did a n Women’s Toronto Blue Jays Kevin Pillar Majestic Scarlet Fashion Canada Day Red Flex Base Authentic Jersey ice job. He pitched out of a couple of jams and got us through the fifth inning, which is as much as I could have expected.”

Suter began the season in Milwaukee’s rotation before shifting to the bullpen when Miley returned from a groin injury. With Miley injured after parts of two starts, Suter is a candidate to reclaim that spot.

“Crazy night, but at the same time, that’s what I’m there for,” Suter said. “It was a lot of fun tonight. I’ll never forget it.”

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Shaw smash: Shaw was in a 4-for-42 funk as he stepped to the plate against Kluber with two outs and Ryan Braun aboard in a scoreless first inning. Kluber hung a curveball right down the middle and Shaw didn’t miss it, sending his seventh home run to the right-field seats to tie injured first baseman Eric Thames‘ team lead.

“It’s just nice to make contact,” Shaw said. “[Kluber] was battling a little bit. I don’t think he had his ‘A’ stuff tonight.”

SOUND SMART
According to Stats, Inc., Suter is only the third relief pitcher to homer off a reigning Cy Young Award winner. The others were the Phillies’ Turk Farrell off Don Newcombe in 1957, and the Reds’ Clay Carroll off Bob Gibson in 1969.

YOU GOTTA SEE THIS
It didn’t have the same ending as Jesus Aguilar‘s 13-pitch, walk-off home run last month against the Marlins, but Manny Pina‘s battle with Indians reliever Zach McAllister in the eighth was just as epic. It spanned 15 pitches, including 12 foul balls, one of which was catchable but dropped by Cleveland first baseman Edwin Encarnacion for an error. McAllister finally ended it with a curveball for a called third strike.

It was the longest at-bat by a Brewer since Jeromy Burnitz battled Phillies right-hander Steve Montgomery for 15 pitches on July 7, 1999. Burnitz struck out swinging.

HE SAID IT
“I think [Indians outfielder Rajai] Davis tossed it into the stands. He didn’t know it was my first home run, but the fan gave it back to me. I met them in the back tunnel. It was really cool to give it back to me. I thank them a lot.” — Suter, on getting his home run ball

UP NEXT
Junior Guerra will try to bounce back from a poor start against the Pirates when he takes the mound for Wednesday’s two-game Interleague series finale against the Indians at 12:10 p.m. CT at Miller Park. Guerra had surrendered two earned runs in 22 innings over his first four starts before struggling with fastball command to the tune of five earned runs on six hits in five Kevin Pillar Jersey Cheap innings against Pittsburgh. He’ll work opposite Cleveland’s Carlos Carrasco.

The Brewers made additional moves prior to Wednesday’s  Kevin Pillar Canada Day Jersey game, placing infielder-outfielder Nick Franklin (right quad strain) and left-hander Wade Miley (right oblique strain) on the 10-day DL and recalling infielder Tyler Saladino from Triple-A Colorado Spri Women’s Toronto Blue Jays Kevin Pillar Majestic Scarlet Fashion Canada Day Red Flex Base Authentic Jersey ngs.

Knebel strained his left hamstring throwing a pitch against the Cubs on April 5. It was a significant loss, considering Knebel logged a 1.78 ERA and 39 saves in a league-leading 76 appearances last season, but the Brewers entered Tuesday with the Majors’ second-best bullp Youth Toronto Blue Jays Kevin Pillar Majestic Scarlet Fashion Canada Day Red Flex Base Authentic Jersey en ERA, at 2.59.

“The entire bullpen has been outstanding, really, for the entire season and since Corey has gone down,” Stearns said. “Josh [Hader] gets the headlines, Kevin Pillar Jersey Cheap and deservedly so because of what he has accomplished. But one through seven or eight, whoever we have had out there more often than not has gotten the job done, and often under very difficult circumstances.”

Another injured reliever, Boone Logan, was scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday in what could be his final appearance rehabbing a left triceps injury.

Stephen Vogt has Kevin Pillar Blue Jays Jersey setback in shoulder rehab

MILWAUKEE — Catcher Stephen Vogt arrived in Milwaukee on Sunday for tests on his injured right shoulder after a setback on Saturday night at Double-A Kevin Pillar Jersey For Sale Biloxi.

Vogt, sidelined since mid-March by a shoulder strain, took himself out of Saturday’s game in the sixth inning after airing one throw over second base and then bouncing another throw to third. Brewers general manager David Stearns said Vogt made a wise decision to remove himself and declined to speculate on the severity of the setback, pending medical results.

MILWAUKEE — Catcher Stephen Vogt arrived in Milwaukee on Sunday for tests on his injured right shoulder after a setback on Saturday night at Double-A Biloxi.

Vogt’s visit with head team physician Dr. William Raasch is scheduled for Monday.

“It’s a setback, there’s no question,” Brewers manager Craig Counsell said.

“My rehab assignment was going really well,” said Vogt, who arrived at Miller Park in the wake of the Brewers’ 9-0 loss to the Pirates on Sunday. “I even mentioned to Kevan [Creighton, Biloxi’s athletic trainer] on my way out to catch the sixth in Kevin Pillar Jersey ning how good I felt. I threw down to second in between innings, felt great. Finally, for the first time, I felt I had turned a corner. I felt free and almost normal.”

That changed quickly.

“Guy stole second, I didn’t get a good grip and threw it into center field, but that one felt fine,” Vogt said. “Next pitch, he went to third, and right when I went to throw it to third, I felt something pinch or whatever you want to call it. Ball just kind of rolled to third base. I knew right away something didn’t go right.”

Vogt said the pain was in a different part of his shoulder, on top of the joint instead of in the back.

“I’m in a lot of pain still today,” he said. “I’m trying to be me and stay as positive as I can right now.”

Vogt, a two-time American League All-Star for the A’s acquired via waivers last June 25, worked with weighted balls over the winter to strengthen his arm after throwing out one of 28 baserunners with the Brewers. But he developed soreness after his first Spring Training game and began the season on the disabled list.

Despite his below-average arm, the Brewers do miss Vogt’s left-handed bat, especially with first baseman Eric Thames on the DL recovering from thumb surgery. Brewers catchers are 25th of 30 Major League teams with 58 weighted runs created plus, though Manny Pina has homered twice in his last five starts.

Vogt hit eight home runs (12 overall) and slugged .508 in 129 Brewers plate appearances last season.

“He went into the offseason trying to improve his arm strength, trying to improve his throwing,” Counsell said. “He put a lot of work into it, and unfortunately, he’s had a couple of injuries with it. It’s definitely frustrating.”

Dubon injured
Under better circumstances, news that No. 10 Brewers prospect Mauricio Dubon was coming to Milwaukee would be welcomed by Brewers fans. But Dubon is coming to be examined by Raasch after straining his left knee in a rundown during Triple-A Colorado Springs’ loss at Oklahoma City on Saturday, according to Brewers farm director Tom Flanagan.

• Brewers’ Top 30 prospects

Dubon, 23, has been a top performer in Milwaukee’s Minor League system this season, with a 23-game hitting streak pushing his OPS to .922 after 108 at-bats.

Triple-A next for Logan; Knebel also close
After tes Youth Toronto Blue Jays Kevin Pillar Majestic Scarlet Fashion Canada Day Red Flex Base Authentic Jersey ting his left triceps in five healthy rehab appearances for Biloxi, including back-to-back games Friday and Saturday, left-handed reliever Boone Logan will pitch at least once for Triple-A Colorado Springs before the Brewers make a decision about activating him from the DL, Counsell said.

Closer Corey Knebel, coming back from a hamstring injury, also was scheduled to pitch for a second straight day Sunday as his own rehab assignment continued.

“He’s doing really well, too,” Counsell said of Knebel. “All positive signs there. He’s on track to join us at the end of the week at the latest.”

Logan’s Triple-A outing is scheduled for Tuesday in Nashville.

“We’ll evaluate after the next one,” Counsell said. “He’s getting close.”

Remembering Davey
The Brewers observed a moment of silence for former coach, broadcaster and front-office official Davey Nelson on Sunday, two weeks after Nelson passed away following a battle with liver cancer.

The team has more tributes planned around a four-game series against the Cardinals from June 21-24:

• Players and coaches will wear a “Nelly” patch on their jersey sleeves for Kevin Pillar Jersey Cheap each of the four games against the Cardinals.

• On June 23, the FOX Sports Wisconsin stage in Miller Park’s right-field corner, home to the network’s pre and postgame shows, will be renamed “Nelly’s Corner.” The Brewers will place a memorial plaque there.

• Proceeds from the Brewers Community Foundation 50-50 Raffle on June 23 will go toward Nelson’s charity of choice, the Open Arms Home for Children in South Africa, which serves children impacted by AIDS. Fans can make donations in Nelson’s memory at openarmshome.com.

“We have been reminded every day of the impact that Davey had on countless individuals, not just in baseball, and not only in our community, but across the globe,” said Brewers COO Rick Schlesinger. “It’s our honor to put in place these remembrances, and we will continue work that he did every day to help others.”
